Hilarious DIY Father’s Day Toilet Paper Gift

I mean what Dad isn’t obsessed with poop?

For real y’all….  I remember the boys in my college dorms walking down the hallways discussing the impressive girth of their post burger bender poops. And how my 16 year old boyfriend  thought it was hilarious to fart in the car and then lock the windows so I couldn’t roll them down.

It seems they never grow out of that fascination either.  I think one my own husband’s proudest moments in life was when my daughter first pooped in the potty.

“Hey Mommy!  Look at this!  She did it!  And its HUGE!”

He tells all the cheesy Dad jokes about poop and seems a little too interested in his own brand of scents.  So these DIY Father’s Day Toilet Paper gifts are perfect for him!  And…they are super easy to make!!

So today I’m sharing this super quick and easy tutorial and a whole set of funny & free SVGs!

Step 1:   Create or import your design.

While you can fairly easily create your own design, I’ve already done the work for you!  You can grab FOUR of my free designs here.   Mine are sized to about 4X4 which seems to be a pretty standard size for toilet paper rolls.

Step 2:  Group by Color

This is the easiest way to cut multiple files at once.  It’s actually pretty simple to cut multiple colors on one mat also!  You just have to look carefully at the measurements of where the designs fall on the cutting mat.

I actually ended up cutting the red text in blue at the last minute.  Blue just seemed to be more “Father’s Day” appropriate.

Step 3:  Cut and weed design

For this project, you’ll need to use heat transfer vinyl.   My favorite brand is Siser Easyweed because it cuts so evenly.  I’ve had a lot of trouble with other brands not cutting well and being difficult to weed.

Do not forget you will need to mirror the design since you are working with HTV.  You will also need to weld any fonts that connect.

I do also modify my settings from the recommendations.  I typically increase my blade depth by 1 and my pressure by 4 or 5.  This seems to help it cut cleanly also.

Here’s a little tip for weeding HTV!  If you have a heat press, let it warm up and then let the vinyl sit underneath before you weed it.  It will roll off like butter!

If you need more tips on applying HTV, be sure to check out my post on applying heat transfer vinyl (and grab some more free cut files!).

Step 4: Apply design with heat press or iron

These are so incredibly simple to press!  All I did was roll it back and forth on the top of my heat press for a few seconds and it stuck very quickly!  Be sure to use a Teflon sheet to protect the vinyl.

***Please note, I do not press this all at once.  I press each section individually.  For example for this picture I first pressed the blue, then the black and finally the brown poop piece.

The final result is adorable and hilarious!  I went ahead and did all 4 designs, though they won’t all be for my husband!  We’ll likely gift some lucky grandpas too!  I’m sure they will get a chuckle out of it.  If they don’t want to display it in the bathroom, they can just use it as intended, making it not only a funny gift, but also a practical one!
