So today I want to take a quick break from the letter of the week lesson plans and switch to something else I consider super fun – themed units- particularly themed science units! My letter of the week series have been some of my most popular posts, so I wanted to share some weekly science units also! First up is the always incredibly fun – farm animals!
Fun fact about me – I grew up on a farm of sorts. Most of my life we had horses, but through the years we had donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and more. I rode bareback, mucked barns, played in creeks – a true country girl!
The farm shut down years ago but I’m still a huge animal lover. All things cute and furry steal my heart (especially dogs and horses!). So I got super excited about this week’s unit plan.
All of these activities were found on Pinterest and to save you time I’ve included all the pins! You can also find these and much more awesomeness over at my Pinterest profile. Be sure to follow so you catch what I’m pinning currently!
Here is this week’s unit plan. You can grab it here or by clicking on the image below.
Books
Lots of fun books with this unit, including some wonderful classics. I love reading classic kids books to my daughters. I hope they one day pass them on to their children!
Remember, if you can’t find these books at your local library you can buy them really cheap off of Amazon. Their prices for books new really aren’t bad, but you can’t beat their used prices!

Crafts
Those fingerprint sheep are Baa-rilliant! This week’s crafts are so adorable!
Activities
There are so many fun activities with this unit! I love how hands on they are and of course that makes them good for those developing motor skills!
I also wanted to add, you can find super cheap plastic animals at the Dollar Tree. Mine usually has bags of small plastic animals and bugs that would be perfect for sorting!
Worksheets
These worksheets work on language arts, math, and science skills! There is lots of great review here!
I hope you have as much fun teaching this week’s unit as I did creating it! Remember, you can find any other pins referenced in the plans here.
