Next up in the party series I am switching it up a little. Today I will be sharing an adorable Dr. Seuss baby shower.
Because…when you are a family of teachers and your sister gets pregnant, there is only one type of baby shower to throw. Dr. Seuss of course!
We come from a looonnng line of elementary school teachers, so the theme was a no brainer when planning my sister’s party. Between myself and few teacher friends, we already had all the decorations we needed! Planning the party was easy and so much fun!
Invitations
Do you have any idea how hard it is to rhyme like Dr. Seuss? These invites took me entirely too long to design! I got some clip art off Etsy and created them in Photoshop. They did turn out really cute despite being a big pain in the a**!
Venue
Our church graciously let us use their basement/gathering hall. It had plenty of space and was equipped with a full kitchen.
Food
Food for this party was entirely too much fun! I designed cute food tents to go with all of them and found the corresponding books to prop behind them when I could.
We got a fruit tray and used them for Truffula Fruits.
I made these “Green Eggs and Ham” out of pretzels, white chocolate and green Sixlets.
We included a veggie platter as “Sneech Treats.”
We had “Poodle Eating Noodles” pasta salad.
“Hop on Pop” Chicken Nuggets from Chic-Fil-a.
And of course, “One Fish, Two Fish, Goldfish.”
For drinks we brought a variety of choices and also made “Pink Yink Ink Drink” punch. Check out the recipe here.
I also had a local baker make a cute custom cake to match the theme.
Decorations
The easiest part of this shower was finding cute decorations! There are no shortage of adorable Dr. Seuss baby shower ideas on Pinterest!
As a teacher, I had plenty of access to books, and already owned a ton of Dr. Seuss books myself! Kohl’s did a Kohl’s Cares campaign a couple of years ago with Dr. Seuss stuffed animals, so I had lots of those, borrowed a few from the school library, and scored a few cheap on Ebay. I scattered those throughout the room.
My super talented teaching assistant created this crazy awesome ribbon corsage for her to wear.
I had so much fun with this diaper cake! The super cute ribbon came from Amazon, where I also found a small Lorax, and board book. I scored an awesome set of Dr. Seuss stacking blocks at Toys R’Us and used them in the cake and as decorations throughout the room.
At the entrance I had a copy of Tish Rabe’s “Oh Baby! The Places you’ll Go!” for guests to sign along with a Wishes for Baby sheet I had designed.
Like these decorations? Check out Amazon for some of these products and tons of other cute Dr. Seuss stuff!

This shower was by far one of my favorite things to plan! I secretly hope one of my girls will let me do another Dr. Seuss party in the future!
