Doc McStuffins 3rd Birthday Party

Today’s Birthday Party is one of my favorites!

Right before she turned three my oldest child decided she wanted to be a veterinarian.  All thanks to a little show called “Doc McStuffins.”

She watched the Pet Vet series and was hooked.  For months, she played doctor on me and her dad, the cats and dogs, and every single one of her stuffed animals.  So when her 3rd birthday rolled around, I didn’t have to even ask what kind of party she wanted.  She wanted Doc McStuffins of course!

Before sending out her invites, I had to have a little Doc themed photo shoot.  I found all the characters on Etsy for somewhere around $25.  For the rag-tie banner, I went to Joanns and got some fabric in coordinating designs and cut them all into strips and tied them hap-hazardly on a twine rope.   She of course wore her Doc McStuffins costume (and mismatched boots) and had a grand old time hamming it up with her favorite pals!

Invitations

I used a picture from the shoot and designed an invite to fit her theme using Photoshop.  I did black out some information for privacy reasons.  I don’t sell this particular design in my shop, but I do have others if you are interested.  You can check them out here.

Venue

Her Sesame Street party last year was such a hit, we decided to do it at the gym again.  It seemed to be the perfect venue for birthday parties as it provided lots of space to play and run!   We were a little limited on how much we could decorate but it still turned out wonderfully.

Outfit

This year, I found her shirt design on Etsy.  Unfortunately the seller appears to have closed her shop.  The pants we had laying around from Children’s place.  I actually made her an adorable tutu to match, but she didn’t want  to wear it and I didn’t get any pictures.

Food

As always, the food was some of the funnest part of party planning! I designed cute little food tents to go with each menu item.  We made:

Hallie’s Nuggets of Wisdom  (Chic-fil-a, of course).

Stuffy’s Sticks of Courage

Vitamins

Cotton Balls (marshmallows)

Chilly Noses (carrot sticks)

And had the cutest cupcakes for the clinic made by our favorite bakery.

We also set out Juice and water near the entrance where I also placed this sign I made.  This year we began using photo boards from Walgreens and they turn out so much better!

Decorations

Her sister was a newborn at the time of this party so I didn’t have a lot of time to invest in decorations this year so we kept it really simple.  All the table clothes, plates, and cups were turquoise and pink.  I purchased a few quick-to-assemble party supplies on Amazon and scattered them all over the tables.

Of course, I continued the tradition of making her a birthday chalkboard.

The favors weren’t very thought out for this party.  In fact, I just ordered a bunch of random Doc party favors from Party City and threw them in a bag.   I did however, take a little time to design this cute little tags for them.

This is one party where I didn’t get nearly as many pictures as I’d have liked to.  Her sister was so little and I was so sleep deprived.  I felt like it was a tiny miracle I was able to pull a party off at all!   No matter though, it was still another fun and fabulous party, full of wonderful memories!

Have you thrown your own Doc party and have other suggestions?  Please share them in the comments!!

I’m also throwing a Doc McStuffins Birthday party for my newly turned 3 y/o and we would love to get a copy of your food label tags. Any chance you could email them to me so I can print them?

      Hi Lyn,

I am so sorry for the delay in response. I lost my father recently and it’s turned my world upside down. My blog has been a bit neglected. If you’re still in need of these shoot me an email at hello@thiscraftymom.com. I think I *may* have them saved on a backup hard drive but I’m not 100% positive.
