Today I’m sharing with you a quick and easy tutorial for one of my absolute favorite DIY teacher appreciation gifts!
You’ll be hard pressed to find a teacher who doesn’t have a sweet tooth, which makes the combination of cookie or brownie mix and this cute oven mitt absolutely perfect!
These are simple, sweet and so much fun! I love them so much I created four different designs that can be used! You’ll love them too, especially after seeing how easy they are!

Step 1: Design
If you’re using my designs, this part is super simple. All you have to do is download my designs here and import them into your software! You will need to ungroup the design you’d like to use and then size it to fit your mitt. Be sure to weld before cutting!
Step 2: Cut and weed HTV
For this project you will need to use HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl). Before cutting, be sure to mirror your design.
Your machine likely has the settings pre-determined for you. I find Siser Easyweed to the be the easiest vinyl to weed. I do increase my pressure slightly from the recommendations. Just a minor adjustment and it cuts like butter!
Step 3: Apply HTV
The last step is applying it to the potholder. You’ll need to line it up evenly. I usually use a ruler to make sure I’m as close as possible because I’m not really good at eyeballing it!
The one thing I would like to note that is different from other HTV projects, is that you will want to put a thin towel in the front pocket of the oven mitt so that it will press evenly.
I used my heat press to apply this, but I’ve also done it with an iron. Just be sure to put a Teflon sheet over before you press and you’re good to go!
Once you’ve pressed it, all you have to do is add your goodies! I picked up both the spatula and the mix at the Dollar Tree making this a creative and cost effective project!
If you need more detail on how to work with HTV, be sure to check out my post on applying HTV.

I’ve tried to down load this 2 times and it down loads but when I try and transfer it to Cricut Design space there are diamonds over “trying to Score” and “how sweet”. What am I doing wrong???
