My oldest baby recently turned six y’all!
SIX big Whole years old!
She’s a bundle of fire and fierceness and knows who she is and what she wants so she’s made her Christmas wish list pretty clear this year.
After eating lunch with her little friends in the cafeteria, I can tell you she’s not alone in what she wants! So if you’re looking for Christmas gifts for a 6 year old, you’ve come to the right post!
I’ve got a ton of fun gift ideas – 6 year old approved – and a few educational ones you can sneak in that they are sure to love!

Hobby Related Toys
As they become independent kids are inclined to begin to develop their own hobbies. While lots of times, these include sports, many other things may also be fun for them.
My oldest loves watching baking shows and has asked for an oven this year, so we will be getting her that for sure!
Outdoor Toys
There’s nothing like good old fashioned outdoor play. It is so beneficial to a child’s development.
We did the new bike thing for her birthday this year, but I’ve got my eye on a new swing for their playset. I’m not quite sure which one we will get yet but either way is bound to be a win!
Arts & Crafts
One thing I love about this age is the fact that she’s able to take on bigger and more complicated craft projects! It goes without saying that in my home, we love a good craft!
There are some of the ones on her wishlist this year and a few more I may stock the birthday box with.
Educational Toys
As I’ve mentioned before, educational toys are a favorite of mine! Learning while playing can never be a bad thing.
Being a science and math geek, my hubby is all about the STEM stuff, so lots of that appears on our holiday lists. I love that these are projects he can do with them to both teach them and grow their relationship!
Electronic Toys
Kids these days have a plethora of electronic toys to choose from. We got a camera at a recent birthday party and my 6 year old enjoys playing with that. I’m also quite certain a smartwatch will soon be on her gift list!
Of course you can’t go wrong with a good old gaming system. If you’re not ready to drop $$ for a Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo 2DS is about half the price.
Sports Toys
These toys are perfect for the little athletes in your life!
Our 6 year old has played t-ball a few seasons and will be moving up to coach pitch. I can’t wait to try the pitching machine with her!
Games
There are so many fun games for this generation! Growing up, it seemed like our board games were kind of lame!
As I mentioned in my last gift guide, I’m a huge game night nerd, so I’ve been building up our game closet for years already. We are finally getting to the age where we can enjoy it as a family. These games are some of the ones I’m eyeing to add to it next!
Puzzles
Puzzles have been proven to exercise both sides of your brain and improve memory. They also help develop crucial problem solving skills. They are the perfect gift for a growing 6 year old!
And Lego’s are the new puzzles of today! They have all these super cool sets you can build! My daughter has just started getting in to these and they are so much fun!
Books
Books are of course a staple under our Christmas tree. We have far too many, but as a former teacher, it’s an easy habit to pick up.
This year we’re starting to explore chapter books and I’m excited to get her a How to Draw book.
Fun Clothes
As she’s grown more independent, my daughter has started to take an interest in her clothes. She’s spied stuff in the stores and asked for it, whereas when she was younger she could care less about clothing.
This year on her list are footie pajamas and a animal hat. I’m looking for a cute new umbrella also!
I hope you found a few good ideas you can use! I’ve got a bunch of these loaded up in my cart before the big cyber savings coming next week. I’m going to watch the prices carefully and hopefully get a discount!
