****Guess what?! Letter of the Week lesson plans are getting an overhaul! I’m going through and updating all plans, adding new free worksheets and making sure all links are up to date! I’ve created a bunch of templates too for some of the crafts that’ll make your life a lot easier! Hang tight! It may take some time to get through all the letters, but it’s coming soon!! If you’re seeing this message, this post has already been updated!***
The letter o is one of my favorite letters to teach. Wanna know why?
Other than the letter l it is one of the first letters kids pick up on and, it’s super easy for them to write. Not to mention the sound is kind of fun to say.
We used to tell student that the /o/ sound was very similar to the sound you make before you sneeze. I had one kindergartener who confused that early on and made a fake sneeze every time he sounded out words with the letter o. It was pretty darn cute but I learned to stick with the flashcards and keep the cutesy stuff to a minimum, lest I confuse the kiddos.
But don’t worry. You’ll get your fill of cutesy stuff with this week’s crafts and activities!
