Teaching with Beginning Reading Strategies – Eagle Eye

I am super excited to kick off my 10 day series this year!  This series will  be a follow up to my previous posts in my Teaching your Child to read Series. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out my Letter of the Week Seriesprint concepts and reading behavior ideas and sight word series for tons of freebies and great information!!

The very first reading strategy in this series can be seen both at school and at home. At home it takes an entirely different form.

At home eagle eyes are special adaptations developed over centuries of evolving children. This amazing ability includes: Being to detect Mom from anywhere on Earth, seeing through walls when a sibling has something that doesn’t belong to them and the uncanny ability to spot toys in the trash can from miles away.

But…as annoying as eagle eyes may be, they certainly have their place in the classroom.

20 End of Year Teacher Gift Ideas

I’m not sure there are many people in the world who deserve a summer break as much as a teacher at the end of the school year.

Imagine your patience by the end of summer.  It’s relatively the size of a flea, right?  Now imagine how you’d feel if you took your child and multiplied them by 25, and then by 180 school days.

Yep, if anyone deserves a break, it’s teachers!  And though teacher appreciation week was just a few weeks ago, I still fully intend to send a sweet summer send off to my kid’s teachers!  It’s one last, “thank you for tolerating my children” gift to show our appreciation.

I’ve been seeing tons of cute end of year teacher gifts in my feed lately, so I decided to round them all up into one little post for quick reference.  You’ll have this year through senior year covered, so don’t forget to pin this one for later!

20 End of Year Treat Bags for Classmates

By now, y’all know me and my holiday treat bags!  As a teacher, I loved to spoil my students at holidays and the tradition just kind of carried over when my own kids started school.

I saw those sweet little faces like up in my own classroom, and wanted to continue to spread that joy for my daughters’ little preschool friends!

The last day of school isn’t exactly a holiday, but it might as well be.  Teachers everywhere will soon lower temperatures nation wide, as they breath a collective sigh of relief!  And the excitment in the air from students?  It rivals Christmas.

So, like I said, might as well be a holiday!  So to celebrate, I like to send a little goodie on the last day of school too.

If you’re here, you’re either  parent, searching for the same, or a teacher searching for her class.  Either way,  I’ve got the mother-lode of cute end of year treat bag ideas.

Turning photographs into SVGs

I’ve seen all the posts of these sweet memory projects where people have converted one of their pictures into an SVG file. I’ve read a few tutorials, and thought I could easily do one myself.

I’ve been a photographer almost a decade, and have a good bit of experience with Photoshop, so it didn’t seem like it should be difficult. Convert it into a high contrast, black and white image, import it into my design software and trace. Simple, right?

Um…that’s a big fat NOPE!

That is of course until I stumbled upon one of the most helpful websites ever! It makes it super easy to turn photographs into svgs!

Hilarious DIY Father’s Day Toilet Paper Gift

I mean what Dad isn’t obsessed with poop?

For real y’all….  I remember the boys in my college dorms walking down the hallways discussing the impressive girth of their post burger bender poops. And how my 16 year old boyfriend  thought it was hilarious to fart in the car and then lock the windows so I couldn’t roll them down.

It seems they never grow out of that fascination either.  I think one my own husband’s proudest moments in life was when my daughter first pooped in the potty.

“Hey Mommy!  Look at this!  She did it!  And its HUGE!”

He tells all the cheesy Dad jokes about poop and seems a little too interested in his own brand of scents.  So these DIY Father’s Day Toilet Paper gifts are perfect for him!  And…they are super easy to make!!

So today I’m sharing this super quick and easy tutorial and a whole set of funny & free SVGs!

I’m that dog mom and l own it.

While people have failed me, my dogs have always been there.

They don’t judge, they don’t hold grudges, in fact, they don’t talk at all.  They just offer unconditional, truly devoted, love.

So when my sweet pup turned 1, I planned a sweet & simple family birthday party and photo shoot to commemorate her first birthday.  And the results were absolutely adorable!
