Hey y’all!! I’m Amanda, creator of This Crafty Mom.
I’m a stay at home mom to two beautiful girls who have way too many toys and don’t eat enough vegetables.
I am southern to the core. I drink too much sweet tea, use y’all as a pronoun, and spend my summers sitting on the front porch watching the kids play barefoot on the lawn.
I used to teach. For 10 years I taught elementary school. I plan to return to teaching once my girls start school. Despite the insurmountable obstacles facing public school teachers these days, teaching is in my heart, and blood.
I’ve spent most my life as a closeted crafty person. When I taught, if I was making something, it was for school. Staying home has allowed me to get back to crafting for me. One of my missions for this blog, is to share the things I have learned with you. So that you can be crafty too.
I also used to write. A billion years ago, I got my Communication degree in Journalism. I wrote a column for the college paper for awhile and loved it. But when I graduated I realised you weren’t just handed a column at a big newspaper, and in my youthful ignorance just gave up.
This blog is a culmination of all these things. I hope to teach and inspire others to craft and create, while also talking about the most important thing in my life. Which is being a mom. Because if you truly know me, you know that my kids are my life. In other words, my house is infinitely messy but my heart is constantly full.
