20 Merry & EASY DIY Christmas Craft Ideas

Yes, I know the leaves are just starting to turn and we’re not even through Halloween yet.

To me, Christmas and the birth of Jesus represent hope and the promise of better days.  Christmas is like this bright light in the middle of a long, cold winter.

I also enjoy channeling Buddy the Elf.  I love decorating for Christmas most of all!  I want it to look like Christmas in every corner.  So I’ve been creating Christmas crafts left and right.  I’ve got a ton of cute DIY Christmas craft ideas and free Christmas SVGs to share with you and  I’ve also rounded up some of my favorite DIY Christmas crafts & from other bloggers!   If you weren’t in the holiday spirit, you will be soon!!

  1. Christmas Hand Soap & Santa-tizer

This is one of my favorite DIY projects.  So quick and easy!  I’ve got a tutorial here, along with a free Halloween cut file.

I’m aiming to come up with a few more for other holidays because I think they are the cutest!  They make really fun gifts too!

2. Santa’s Little Helper Shirt

I found an amazing sale online and bought waaayyyy too many Christmas ruffle raglans, so I’ve been super busy creating designs for them.  If you’re interested in scoring adorable shirts like these be sure to check out my places to buy blanks from post.  These raglans were purchased from several of the stores on that last!  I got them all for really good prices too!

This first one is for my littlest cutie!  It’s going to be so stinkin’ cute!

3.  DIY Santa Cam Ornament

This little cameras have duel advantages.  They are super easy and fun to make and  they can be used to help improve behavior at home over the holidays.  Or give your kid a complex.  The internet is divided.

Either way, they are fun and easy.  In fact, just plain glitter ornaments are one of my favorite things to make around Christmas.  Just add a SVG and you’ve got instant custom Christmas ornaments.

4. Santa is my Bestie shirt

This shirt is for my oldest cutie!  We’re going to ride the Polar Express at Christmas, and she’s going to be wearing it to see Santa.  It’ll make for adorable pictures!

5. Christmas Countdown Chalkboard – This House is under Elf Surveillance

I tell my kids that Santa has the elves man the Santa Cam sometimes so he can get other stuff done.  So this cute little chalkboard is the perfect addition to our holiday decor.

This was another really simple project.  I picked these chalkboards up at Walmart in the craft section.  I created a quick design, added my vinyl,  and was done with them in under 15 minutes!

6.  Fly like Ruldolph shirt

So this design is a tribute to my inner 90s child when we called everything “Fly” but it’s also something I think my youngest kiddo will really rock!

7. Merry Christmas – Ya Filthy Animal Reverse Canvas

Here’s another 90’s throwback.  We adore the movie Home Alone around this house.  My girls have watched it a thousand times.

I know this line actually comes from a real movie, but I’ve forever associated it with Home Alone.  This merry little sign will be adorning my walls this Christmas.

It was also super easy to make!  If you haven’t made a reverse canvas, be sure to check out my tutorial.  The only thing I did differently for this one is paint it red instead of staining.

 

8.  Dear Santa, My Sister Made me Do it Shirt

Here’s another one my oldest will be wearing this Christmas.  She loves to blame everything on her little sister.  In a few years I’m going to have to make TWO of these shirts.

9.  Cookies & Milk for Santa, Carrots for Reindeer

Last year I made a mental note to redo our Santa plate.  We always add carrots for the reindeer and Santa likes a LOT of cookies so I thought it would be best to make a set.  We will set them out on this same tray for the big guy to enjoy on Christmas Eve.

10.  Dear Santa – Please stop here doormat

I’ve been working to update our outdoor decorations this year and created this ultra cute coir doormat for our front door!

Doormats can be an overwhelming idea but they are actually relatively easy, though a little time consuming.  I have a step-by-step doormat tutorial to walk you through it.

I adore this door wreath design from Simplicity in the South. This will be going on one of my doors for sure!

We try out a new advent calendar every year.  I’d love to make this oen from Legally Craft Blog and have one to re-use!

How cute is this sign from Of Fairies  & Fauna.  Perfect for those farmhouse style lovers!

This little guys are just too stinkin’ cute!  This idea from The Paper Craftery is so unique!

15.  Buffalo Check Christmas Stockings

I love buffalo plaid everything in winter, so I adore these sweet stockings! Of Faeries and Fauna Crafts for the win!

16.  DIY Christmas Wine Cork Wreath

Now I know what to do with all those wine corks I’ve been saving.  My Turn for Us also gives me another excuse to drink a few more bottles to be sure I have enough!

17.  Homemade Cinnamon Ornaments

I’ve been looking for a recipe like this one from Strength and Sunshine.  Years ago we made these in my kindergarten classroom.  There were so cute and smelled divine!  I can’t wait to re-create this one with my kiddos!

18. Hand Lettered Wood Slice Ornaments

I love this idea from Legally Craft Blog!  It’s the perfect way to re-purpose Christmas boxes!
