So you’re planning a trip to the Outer Banks and looking for some amazing experiences, huh?

Well, today is  your lucky day, my friend!  I’ve got two of the most amazing adventures that exist on the Outer Banks.

You may have seen the Outer Banks before, but you’ve probably  never seen it like this!  These two experiences are so unique, they offer things no other tour companies can provide.

Like an airboat and a Hummer.

Yep.  That’s worth repeating, and airboat and a Hummer.

Those two machines alone let you know you’re in for an epic experience that you’ll never forget!

Not to mention you get to experience some of the Outer Banks most amazing wildlife and views.  These are two Outer Banks experiences you don’t want to miss.

Outer Banks Adventures

So we’ve already established the first reason Outer Banks Adventures offers an amazing experience.

An airboat.  

The same thing you’ve seen on TV in the Everglades that glides upon the water, seeming to defy physics. You too can have a similar experience just inside the Roanoke Island marshes.

Outer Banks Adventures offers lots of different options for air boat tours in addition to SUP (stand up paddleboard) tours.  Tours can vary in destination, length, and even what you are aiming to do!

We took an amazing hour long ride with Jamie, and got to explore the marshes and see the wildlife up close.

On our trip we saw a ton of birds, including some bald eagles, fish, crabs and even a small sea turtle that our amazing guide rescued from drowning!  We learned so much about these amazing creatures and the area they inhabit.

We zipped across the water and had first class seats to some amazing evening views.  If you’ve never been right in the middle of marshlands before, you’re in for a treat!  It’s so quiet and peaceful, and wildlife is hidden around every corner.

It was seriously a truly amazing experience!  Jamie was great with our young girls and drove very safely, so we still got an idea of what the boat could do.  We’ve spent a lot of time on the lake growing up, but riding in an air boat was nothing like riding in your typical passenger boat.  You truly have to experience it to understand.

You’re going to want to get in contact with him a week or two prior.  He’s a busy man, and can book up quickly!  Weather conditions can greatly impact the sound though, so you may have to wait till a few days before to actually schedule your trip.

Either way, you won’t regret it!  It’s an Outer Banks experience like no other!

Wild Horse Adventure Tours

Everyone loves the wild horses of Corolla, right?  They represent beauty, freedom, and a tiny piece of our nations history.   You may have been lucky enough to see them before at the Pony Pens in Corolla.  Or maybe you were brave and took your own 4 – wheel drive vehicle on to the beach.  And maybe even luckier that you didn’t get stuck!

Chances are though, even if you did go searching for them,  you didn’t know where to look.  And I’m betting you didn’t get to do it in a Hummer!

The guides at Wild Horse Adventure Tours know all the spots these horses like to frequent.  They know their way in and out of the matrix of sandy roads that all look alike.  And, they know they know all about these amazing animals and the area in which they inhabit.

You know a group of wild horses is called a herd, right?  Did you know that herds will break off into smaller groups called harems?  A harem is a smaller group of usually 4-5 horses, one of which will be a stallion.  Wanna guess where I learned that little nugget of wisdom from?

We got to spend an afternoon with Mike J. of Wild Horse Adventure Tours riding around in search of the ponies.  He managed to find us almost 20 of the reclusive mustangs!  We saw them grazing, playing, laying down napping, and even fighting!   In a brief 2 hours, we were able to experience these wild horses in a way that most people don’t get to in a lifetime.

Did I mention you get to ride in a Hummer?  Yep!  A big old Hummer with a soft top.  How often do you get to do that?

Seriously, y’all! I can’t recommend this tour enough!  My daughter was asking the minute we got off when we could do it again.  I got some amazing shots, including this one, I’ve blown up and put on a canvas for her room.

Be sure to book a week or so in advance, especially in the peak seasons.  These tours book up quickly!  They run rain or shine, and believe it or not, it’s still an amazing time in the rain.  It rained for part of our trip and we still loved every minute!
